Vince Gilligan Reveals He Has an Idea of How Pluribus Will End... Currently.

The acclaimed writer-producer did not foresee that his new science-fiction series would become a breakout success. “I am so grateful to the audience,” Gilligan says. “I was surprised by the show being as widely discussed as it is, and it makes me overjoyed.”

With the first season of the acclaimed series reaching its finale—and a second season officially in the works—the creative team reflected on the audience reaction and whether it will influence the future direction of Pluribus.

About the Incredible Audience Reaction

One could easily to get sidetracked by the widespread acclaim and fan theories surrounding Pluribus. The creator is doing his best to avoid both.

“It's like being an endless supply of your favorite dessert and being in a state of bliss,” he describes. “It's amazing, but I hear about it from others, and that's on purpose. Never in my life searched for my own name online, nor do I ever intend to. It's quite the opposite. It's a bottomless pit I know I would get lost in and then I'd be pooping in a five gallon bucket from the hardware store and I'd never leave my living room.”

Regardless of trying to stay away, there’s it's impossible to ignore the overwhelmingly positive response to the series. The most practical strategy is to take it in stride and try not to let it dictate the story of the show.

“We make no attempt to tailor anything,” says writer and executive producer Alison Tatlock. “The narrative we craft is not changed by online forums.”

“It's wiser to keep our focus on the work,” he chimes in.

A Pressing Query: Will the showrunner Know the Ending of Pluribus?

Given that the writers are not listening by audience theories, does that mean they have mapped out how Pluribus will finally conclude? Essentially yes… with some caveats.

“We've developed some interesting ideas about where the show might end up,” he states. “but we are always ready to throw out a decent plan for a more brilliant plan. That has held us in well on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We scrap ideas when we conceive of something superior and I expect we'll continue doing that.”

Alternatively, if all else fails, executive producer Gordon Smith has a pretty funny idea to serve as a last resort.

“I keep pitching that everything takes place within a snow globe, and that we'll zoom out in the finale and we're in there,” he says humorously, “but no one is buying it.”

Then again, why not reference the classics?

“I'd love for Carol to awaken with Bob Newhart there,” he jokes.

Pluribus can be watched on Apple TV.
