Torrential Rains Worsen Circumstances for Uprooted Palestinians in Gaza, UN Caution
Persistent rains over the recent period have worsened the already dire situation of the hundreds of thousands of displaced residents in the region, as stated by relief organizations.
"Terrible" Night Creates Serious Dangers
A official detailed the recent storm as "terrible", with downpours so intense that up to 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the terrain.
"Last night was exceptionally terrible for the families. The downpours were so intense... And the gusts were so forceful," stated the representative.
Authorities voice grave concern that children residing in temporary structures in damp garments will succumb to hypothermia and additional ailments.
Deaths and Widespread Loss
Health authorities have reported that one baby has passed away from hypothermia and a minimum of 11 other people have lost their lives in structural failures triggered by the storms.
Further statements suggest a greater fatality count. Spokespeople said that numerous homes had fully given way and scores had sustained partial collapse.

Assistance Operations Seen as Inadequate
Groups have stepped up deliveries of tents, warm covers and clothes following the truce began, but they emphasize there is remains not enough aid reaching those in need.
"We are working relentlessly to deliver that relief and to allocate it, but the scale of the requirements is so vast that we continue to see a great number of families and children who are genuinely enduring hardship nightly," warned one official.
Long-Term Concerns and Agreement Provisions
The second phase of the agreement includes arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the pullback of troops, and other provisions.
Aid groups have stressed the necessity for "increased and sustained aid to address pressing and ongoing requirements."
The conflict was initiated by an attack in October 2023. Subsequent campaigns have led to a high number of fatalities in the region, according to health ministry data.
