The UK is set to progress with employing the entire amount of frozen Russian funds to bolster the Ukrainian defense operations, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a joint statement, the officials of the UK, the French Republic, and Germany stated that this coordinated action would escalate tension on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and urge Moscow to engage in negotiations.

They further noted that the decision would be carried out in tight collaboration with the United States.

United Kingdom restrictions have frozen over £25bn of Russian assets since Moscow began its widespread offensive against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. But, until now, funds allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russia's holdings had solely been taken from earnings and returns earned on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were in agreement in their desire to drive progress toward employing the full value of the seized Russia's state assets to halt hostilities.

He added that additional sanctions soon would increase the strain on Moscow.

This announcement follows European leaders gathered in the Danish capital previously to debate using seized Russia's funds for a €140 billion loan to Ukraine.

In the previous month, American leader Donald Trump urged Group of Seven partners to seize or utilize seized Russia's assets, as reported by media sources.

The value of frozen Russian assets in the Europe is estimated to be almost €211bn.

President Zelensky calls on UK's Sir Keir Starmer to take part in the Purl program

The Russian government carried out extensive missile and drone strikes across the Ukrainian territory on Friday, leading to blackouts in large parts of the capital city, the city, and eight other regions.

A pair of individuals were killed and at least 20 people were hurt in the strike, authorities in Ukraine said.

In a message on social media after the incident, Zelensky commented that the premeditated assault aimed at civilian and energy infrastructure.

"What is required is not empty words but concrete steps - from the America, EU, and the Group of Seven - in providing air defence systems and enforcing sanctions," he wrote.

"Every sanction decision diminishes Russia's war machine," Zelensky declared, in a different message.

In the same period, Zelensky stated to the press he would urge Sir Keir to participate in the Purl program, under which Nato countries acquire weapons from the US to provide to the Ukrainian forces.

While commending the United Kingdom's firm backing for Ukraine, he said it should send a clear signal that it would engage in the program, as well as apply additional measures on Russia.
