The Simpsons Arrives in Rocket League: But It's Not the Car Fans Are Dreaming Of

It was previously announced that The Simpsons was collaborating with Fortnite, but that's not the only place where enthusiasts can experience the world of Springfield. The long-running series is also making its way to Rocket League, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be usable in the Fortnite universe. However, whether players will actually want to use it is a different matter, as there's only one Springfield car everyone is eager to drive, and this isn't it.

The Dream Vehicle

While many players would absolutely enjoy to face off behind the wheel of Homer's custom creation—the famously flawed automobile Homer designed himself in the classic installment "the one where he meets Herb"—that's not what players are receiving. We aren't even getting the Canyonero, the heavy-duty vehicle featured in the tenth season. Instead, fans will obtain the Simpsons' everyday well-worn sedan, which they've been driving since the show's early days. Even though this specific vehicle has accumulated plenty of miles, it stands as an recognizable element of the show. And for players who analyze the game's vehicle dimensions, the trusty sedan uses the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

And it's not the sole cosmetic from the series coming to Rocket League. The event will also include a set of objectives to unlock additional goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. According to a press release, the missions will task participants to "get as many centers and clears as there are the show's seasons, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to the Simpson residence, and drive a distance worthy of acquiring the perfect donuts!"

Although the complete list of earnable items isn't yet revealed, here is what's been announced up to this point:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it seems players will also receive rims featuring a television showing The Simpsons' title sequence, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

The Rocket League collaboration coincides with the extensive Simpsons takeover of Fortnite's island, which includes a brand-new map of Springfield, in addition to a month-long seasonal progression system. The Rocket League x The Simpsons celebration launches on Saturday, Nov. 1 and concludes on Nov. 17.
