That Grisly Animated Movie Ending That Lingers Audiences

Among every mature animated films I’ve ever watched, nothing has lingered in my mind quite like the terror-laced ending of a viscerally violent as well as deeply subversive 2022 movie Unicorn Wars.

Back in 2015’s, this Spanish filmmaker crafted a dark, melancholy and often savage universe with some tiny , forlorn glimmers of optimism.

While Unicorn Wars feels like it came from a drive to expand the medium even more, the filmmaker explained that it was rather an effort to express a global, multicultural message concerning “the common origin of each battle.”

This theme is communicated via a squad of vividly colored bears , obviously modeled after a well-known line of cuddly figures.

Maturing in a culture centered on aggression and the war machine, numerous the bears are fixated on exterminating unicorns, because of a holy book that claims the bears they previously were kings of the forest, before these creatures expelled them.

Some did not entirely accepted the brainwashing, and would rather sample narcotics or fornicate outdoors.

In contrast to their cuddly equivalents, these bright beings display genitals and obvious urges.

For one particularly cruel, cynical bear, the character Bluey, the war against the unicorns transforms into a route to power — and specifically to authority above his softer, kinder brother the bear Tubby.

This bear acts as a tormentor , an obvious psychopath , and as horror dominates his squad and takes his fellow soldiers sequentially, he seizes increasingly influence for himself, in increasingly violent, destructive ways.

At the same time, the unicorns are experiencing their own nightmare, in the form of a spreading, harmful creature in their habitat.

“Initially, it seems like a comedy,” the filmmaker said. “Yet it evolves into a more serious and melancholic film. And by the end, it becomes a scary feature.”

Unicorn Wars commences similar to one of the most whimsical features from an iconic animator, which find a mischievous joy in letting animated figures swear, engage in violence, or engage sexually.

Then it becomes closer to a more grim film from the same director, including ever more visual gore , a tangible relation to genuine tragedy of conflict.

By the end, it is an outright extreme drama carnage.

The terror that turns the film an ideal spooky-season viewing kicks in much sooner than indicated.

Unicorn Wars is one for the most dedicated fans of gore, for enthusiasts of graphic films who desire to see a film they haven’t ever seen on-screen before, and can endure a narrative which delivers no restraint.

See it in a dimly lit space without any distractions, and the finale will dig into your mind and linger.
