Mohamed Salah Extends Statement to Squad, Says Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has shared that Salah apologised to the team following the fallout from his recent interview.
The Fallout
The striker was dropped from a vital match following voicing frustrations and suggesting his connection to the head coach had deteriorated.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I'm sorry.’”
The manager has previously declined to reveal on whether he received a personal apology from the 33-year-old forward.
Team Unity
Jones insisted that the squad's reaction stayed normal. “He was the exact same Mo, he was smiling and everybody was exactly the same with him,” Jones added.
He also implied that a competitor wanting to play is less of an issue. “It's clear there are specific approaches you can express yourself,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just sit out, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
On-Field Response
Their results have been impressive in the games following the interview fallout. The player is convinced the Salah's words were not designed to destabilise the squad.
“If passion has boiled over, the source has been from a desire to win,” he finished. “It's behind us and we’re uniting strongly, performing and on a positive run.”
